Praxis Step One

For my ecofeminist activism I will be adopting a plant-based/low-impact.Reducing my meat/dairy consumption challenges the interconnected systems of exploitation that harm both the environment and marginalized bodies particularly those of women, animals, and Indigenous communities. Industrial animal agriculture relies heavily on the commodification of female reproductive systems and contributes disproportionately to greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and water pollution. By choosing to reduce or eliminate animal products, I will go against the normalization of domination and control over nature and non-human life.

My plan is two only allow two days for meat/diary consumption. The reason for a reduce diet is because I have already purchased groceries and want to avoid wasting them. After they are finished I will then transition to a fully vegan diet! I also plan to research women owned food businesses, I live in San Francisco where vegan grocery stores exist in addition to vegan restaurants. That being said supporting women owned businesses in the agricultural industry is an important form of activism that will reduce negative environmental impacts from implementing alternative diets, and it will also support women owned businesses as they navigate these industries.
